Saphyn rated 2 months ago- No offense, markchenjd, but you're wrong. They actually received somewhere close to 4$$ on average. The real bottom line is that a band can have success without needing to sell themselves to a record label, who in turn owns their soul until their contract is up. A very greedy, uncaring company that runs the bands ragged. It's an unglamorous lifestyle. I've known some artists that beg and plead to get out of their contracts once they realise what they've signed. So, personally, I think this is a very fitting alternative. Especially considering the band itself would likely only see a profit of one, maybe one and a half dollars a sale. I'm not saying that it would work for everyone, but personally? I'd be willing to donate some cash. Actually, I would be more willing to pay full price when I know it was going straight to the band itself. I've actually refused to buy music before because of that particular issue.

markchenjd rated 3 months ago- Thumbs down because of gross oversimplification.
Radiohead tried this. The vast majority of people choose not to pay anything for the album.
Bottom line is that most young people see no reason to pay for something they can get for free. They rationalize it in many different ways, but it all boils down to being self-centered.- Thumbs down because of gross oversimplification.

SpazAholic rated 4 months ago- Wow. That hits the nail right in the hole.. now if only the bands could give us a "safe" place to send the $ without the sharks catching them.

Zyclop rated 4 months ago- Win.

- Are you really sending that cash to the artist?

darsius rated 6 months ago- Amazing!

jay5gen rated 6 months ago- I kinda do this, I try to buy CD's at shows diretly from the artist. If there was an online way, I'd go for it. I don't mind talent being able to make a living and develop there skills... I just hate that the RIAA, and MPAA are funded on my dollars.
