ConsiderThis rated 3 months ago- I really, REALLY want to see The Path to 9/11 again. I got so dragged over the coals at the pbs forum for liking it. People there feared it was unjust to Clinton. Overall, I thought it showed a lot of things... And now, now that I realize the three NY buildings were demolished with set explosives, the fact that O'Neal was blown up in them is far more meaningful and tragic as well as sinister.

stephn41kd rated 3 months ago- usable site containing documentaries of various subjects (e.g. biology, history). i agree that "best", "comprehensive" and these are far from truth anyway. But the site is a very good collection even.

lunaticprophet rated 4 months ago- I've been watching "The Century of Self" again after taking some time to research some of the assertions (really, revelations) that struck me as curious the first time I watched this incredible documentary. In college, my psychology professor described a number of the techniques discussed in this documentary and there was lively discussions as we --then 18-20 year olds-- debated the fact that we could ever be manipulated in such ways while being unaware. So young, so naive... we had no way to understand the powerful forces aligned against our freedom of thought concerning even the most mundane items: the selection of toothpaste; our choice of lunch-time restaurant; how we perceived each other's dress. No choice is too minute when corporations perceive a profit in the making. If people realized the millions of dollars spent just in researching the placement of products on store shelves then maybe we would have some clue (eh, not likely) as to the level of manipulation of thought and emotions that corporations/governments inflict on each of us everyday. No one is immune, you are doing well just to realize that it is happening to you.. but there is no escape from it... it is ingrained into our conscious and unconscious impulses through years and years of conditioning/programming. It's estimated that the average person is exposed to 3000 advertisements each day. "In 1990 around $100 million was spent on advertising targeted at kids on television and just a decade later that number was up more than twenty times to over $2 billion." In the television industry, executives refer to "content and filler"... content = commercials, filler = whatever tv show that has attracted your attention. TV is in the business of airing commercials... not entertaining. Entertainment is just the necessary 'evil' that they must comply with in order to air commercials. In January, I posted an article listing the "Essential BBC documentaries not shown on US TV"... worth a look. Best Online Documentaries has all four episodes of "The Century of Self" and you can also download it via bit torrent. It originally aired on the BBC in 2002 but it has not aired in America and according to IMDB, it has not been released on DVD. Highly recommended...
