If this is true, and I believe it is, then that would explain why crime increases as we raise our children with more and more feelings of "entitlement". This article is exactly the kind of thing parents need to teach, at home, when children are still little. I don't really know any children, personally, that take a first "no" for an answer. They have learned to "wear" their parents down...
