  • Music That Makes You Dumb?

Longplayer: I believe that the correct interpretation isn't that jazz makes you dumb, but that people who chose to generically refer to "jazz" as their favourite music were usually dumber. It's also worth to notice that "classical" is also on the dumb side, while... more

I love how gospel and lil wayne are on the stupid side

I find this interesting, although I don't think it makes too much sense, just judging from my own musical tastes. I enjoy Beethoven, have been to three Counting Crows concerts and own all of their albums, but I can't be that smart because I'm a huge fan of T.I. Also, Nas is placed on the not so intelligent side of the scale, but his lyrics are smart. He uses a lot of historical references and speaks about topics that are not found in the majority of hip-hop. I don't think this study shows much more than someones opinions. They are assuming that hip-hop or pop music wouldn't be along side Beethoven on a "smart" persons playlist.

This is completely stupid in some way. Is good to make you feel better if you love Beethoven or Sufjan Stevans or if you hate Lil Wayne, but is not so simple as say that some music can make you dumb or since you're dumb you listen to this music. How to decide what is intelligent or not? Maybe the persons that listen to Lil Wayne they have a social intelligence that the ones that listen to Beethoven don't have, but to some stupid people that call theirselves scientist only matter what a few numbers say.

Luther, you mean classic rock. not classical. Still, I'm pretty sure my music is not going to make me an idiot

I like how Beethoven is at the top and classical is near the bottom.

I saw this site a long time ago. However, I didn't notice that it was done by Virgil Griffith. I've heard of him before. Anyway, it really needs to be updated to the new SAT scale and newer artists, even if it isn't particularly scientific.

This is a silly graph done by some random guy with an opinion. There is no science here. Don't believe everything you read on the internet, people. This random guy also doesn't know what metal is.
