Beastlychicken showed me a newspaper clipping from his youth. It read: "Metal Pickle Barrels an Untapped Source. A youth in Eastern Massachusetts hit on the notion that metal pickle barrels, once cleaned and assembled in a variety of ways, could make a veritable cornucopia of inventions, from cars to airplanes. The first of his inventions was a diving helmet, cut from a single metal pickle barrel and fitted with a hose and sheet of window glass for viewing. His younger brother was instantly appointed to be the demonstrator of this new wonder, but the boy was unfortunately killed when the tremendous weight of the lakewater above him collapsed the barrel, folding it around his head and crushing his skull instantly."
