Gallery Folder - photo.netA plat by Vincent Teuliere In his own words: "Robert Frost's "The Bear" has been awarded classic status in the canon of American poetry. Its merits might be debated, but today I recognized myself in this poem, feeling just a little like 'A baggy figure, equally pathetic / When sedentary and when peripatetic'." "Facing the new and disorientating changes around here in SUland that have been confronting all the oldies and year-oldies with the freemarket maelstrom, and with a horde of new one-dimensional thumbers coming and going, I could not help feeling a little like the man in this poem, like a bear stuck in a cage." [See his page for the poem] "So, feeling this way, what's left for me to do on SU? My connection with the medium of SU seems to be slowly disappearing (although I can change back to classic and the connection with stumblers I have never met in person remains so strong it astonishes me sometimes). Hopefully the feeling of being caged in a strange place will pass. And it will, because today is today. So I won't be leaving. But perhaps all that is left to do, for today at least, is to let the bagginess hang all out, to be that pathetic peripatetic and sedentary bear before I learn how to roam free again without the limitations of the man. So keep on sticking it to THE MAN (you who do it will know what I mean) and keep on sticking it all out there.*" b-bear's site is full of those kind of observations, which make me feel like I know and like him....Plenty of interesting links to check out. I always root for him to stay on!:)

In search of.... Wall Phalluses B-bear is off in search of wall phalluses. I also want one, which I guess proves Freud's point. While undergoing the final initiatory rite of manhood working on his dissertation, the sweet bear managed to send me the most beautiful 1906 copy of Modern Painters, Volume 2. Thank you, dearest bear. The Poems and Drawings of Elizabeth Siddal now wend their way across a peaceful ocean to you. and now, to properly review you: It is the heart that sees.... Website: b-bear Description: Smart with heart. Everything that lives is holy. Pictures: Yes. Must be seen. Main and Recurring Themes: His dissertation, the rights of lobsters and other animals, compassion, art holding a mirror up to nature, the sacred natural order of things and how humankind is messing it up, dismay at the future, regret at the past, great love, justifiable outrage, giving peace a chance, sweet melancholia (the blues for no reason), parasitism. Liked Best: His artsy-fartsy literary side. No wait, his advocacy for animals. No, no, it's his writing style and especially his poetry. He's full of "liked bests". Liked Least: Full on Hamlet every time he leaves to write his dissertation, which he then procrastinates and doesn't do. It makes me afraid he won't return, but he finally does, even more remorseful about not having written it. He has, however, decided upon the font. His groups: Mycolatry Institute (mushrooms, don't you know?) Favorite tags: bears, wtflolbears, poetry, literature, books Medieval postmodern spawn of Jungian parents.

From B-bear's pages (more on that in a minute). At first glance, this looks like just another photo of a couple clenched in a passionate embrace. Though I like that type of photography, it's readily available here on SU and so I tend to pass it by unless I see something unique. I nearly did so here, then paused and realized this was a sculpture! The art is by Bernini and what is represented here is only a small portion of the whole marble piece. The sculpture depicts the abduction of Proserpina by Pluto and is dated 1621-1622. I am awed by how a solid piece of marble can be sculpted to the most minute detail and leave such lifelike impressions as the dimples where fingers touch skin. It is such a masterful and lovely image. Now, about B-bears pages...another masterful piece of work! Words he "likes to make beautiful", and he surely does, will give you hours of reading. There are also images (some bears of course!), poetry, a bit of humor, and a lot of warmth in his pages. Allow yourself some time to really take in all that is B-bear...original link
