Dustoff283 rated 9 months ago- Auburn managed to make it 6 in a row against Alabama on Saturday with a 17-10 win at Jordan-Hare Stadium. As is my practice, I watched in from my seats on the 50 yard line, half-way up in the upper deck, on the west side. It was a chilly, windy evening, but providentially the rain held off. I love my school and my team, and I certainly enjoy a win, especially against Alabama. For the unenlightened, the Auburn/Alabama rivalry is one of the most storied in sporting tradition. This was not a banner year for either program, but, as has been made clear by many, the rest of the season pales in comparison to this one game. Although much of the rivalry is good natured, it is very serious in this state. It makes it especially interesting when, as is the case in my extended family, loyalties are split. Even my two daughters, who are currently students at Auburn, still kind of pull for Alabama when it comes to that game. I can't seem to wrap my brain around that, but it's a common phenomenon in this state. So, for now Auburn has bragging rights, but it starts over again in the Fall of 2008. As is the case, every year, all bets are off.
