When I am relaxed, I do this in traffic. But when I am caught up in life.... From the page: "Once upon a time, years ago, I was driving through a number of stop/go traffic waves on I-520 at rush hour in Seattle. I decided to try something. On a day when I immediately started hitting the... more

Interesting, and definitely sensible, but I read about a month ago something about how a few impatient drivers that weave through traffic actually also provide a lubricating effect, by getting out of tight spots before they can jam up. If no one ever tried to get ahead, traffic would be worse. What it really comes down to is that merging always screws people up, no matter what. I drive 75 miles a day, and I see it over and over. I've come to the point where I have multiple freeway routes prepared so that I can avoid the nonsense as much as possible now.

Thank goodness our traffic problems are not like those in the USA...by comparison I live in a tiny backwater (I don't of course). Regarding Truckies it is common-sense to drive like they do...tailgating is very dicey

I've been doing this ever since I first read about it and it really does work a charm. Plus, you get to relax and not stress out because of constant speed changes and pedal work.

Unfortunately, most people will never understand the concept that you can get somewhere faster by NOT giving your car as much gas as possible.

Great idea to stop traffic jams.
