 NC2K rated 8 months agolinux, vista, security, theft-recovery-software, notebook - This sounds very promising. Think I'll give it a go and test it on my new baby. Works with Mac, WinDoze XP/Vista and low and behold, even Linux platforms.

- I've seen a lot of software like this, which makes me think.. is laptop theft really that frequent? I don't let mine leave my sight when I take it with me in public places.

- Smart people (which most people who steal aren't) would immediately format the machine, or use a bootable usb/disk to steal info and not be bothered by this software. If only it was put in the BIOS ... =)

- This is a free, open-source software option to help you track your laptop if it's ever stolen. It will even take a photo of the thief, if your laptop has a built-in camera.
