Paulo Coelho, always trying to get closer to his readers, has launched a bold new project: "The Experimental Witch". He is inviting his/her readers who are filmmakers and musicians to adapt his latest novel "The Witch of Portobello" in an unprecedented way. This project, based mainly on the Internet, invites filmmakers from all over the world to portray the ever-fleeting Athena, also known as "The Witch of Portobello". By choosing one the narrators of this novel, filmmakers will have the chance to give free reign to their own views of Athena. Each selected participant will be paid a symbolic fee (3.000 EUR) for his/her contribution. Musicians are also invited to compose a theme for the film that will be edited once the best videos are selected (25th of July 2008). They will be paid 1.500 for their collaboration, while retaining the rights for any other platform but films (either TV or full feature) Once the edition of this footage is made, Paulo Coelho will launch the film in film festivals and also the Internet. Depending on the final quality, we can also try a conventional distribution. The deadline for the registration is the 19th of March 2008, but we suggest the filmmakers to start as soon as possible, as the selection will be made on the "first come, first served" basis. This is the first time a movie will be entirely shot by its readers. The Experimental Witch
