A fascinating SU blog that effortlessly manages the challenge of being both informative and entertaining. Its main focus is on topics of scientific interest but even for the hopelessly non-technical like me Stellares lightness of touch and entertaining style make it a pleasure to browse. Probably not the best place for fans of glitter-ponies, lolcats or nekkid ladies, but if your tastes run to great images and intelligent commentary then this is for you. One of the best SU blogs I've seen so far and I'm not the easiest person in the world to please. So, well done.

There are people in this world that will tell you what to think and then there are people that give you the information and allow you to decide for yourself. Stellare is a gem, read her blog, you may learn something. I did. If we could vote for Top Stumblers this blog would make the cut.

Bente has the best scientific blog on SU. Period. She always provides the best quality content. I was happy to see her among Top Stumblers some days ago. And if it's true that she was violently removed from this list, then it's a shame. I would like to know the reasons.

Wet Chemistry on Mars Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/University of Arizona/Max Planck Institute It is so many "first time ever"s for the Phoenix Lander on Mars I am getting all dizzy. It is an amazing success already, and the results are just keeping on coming. Now, for the first time we are performing wet chemistry on another planet. And for the first time baking soil at extremely high temperatures on another planet. The results from these record holding activities are overwhelming too. We have identified several known chemicals, confirming evidence of water... The danger of Mars still lurks in our conscience, for Mars today is a hostile world, blanketed in toxic soil and zapped with radiation. And yet, we are on a quest to conquer our fears and make peace with this planet. We begin to brave the hardships because Mars is the only planet on which humans could one day settle, making it a place of hope as well as trepidation.
