I am still thinking of you Persiana aka Shireen. You are a great friend. from her page: Minakari; an ancient Iranian art Photos of Minakari in Isfahan city on the page. Texts from another site* Minakari or Enamelling is the art of painting, colouring and ornamenting the surface of metals [and dishes] by fusing over brilliant colours that are decorated in an intricate design. The Iranians invented the art of enamel or minawork metalcraft and Mughals spreaded it to India and other countries. Gold has been used traditionally for minakari jewellery as it holds the enamel better, lasts longer and its lustre brings out the colours of the enamels. Silver, a later introduction, is used for artefacts like boxes, bowls, spoons, and art pieces while Copper which is used for handicraft products were introduced only after the Gold Control Act, which compelled the minakars to look for a material other than gold, was enforced around the world. a poem I found in case she is reading: An Iranian Poem Susan Bazargan I Will Say Good Day Again I will say good day again To the light of the sun To the wash of the clouds Slate, infinite To the ash trees Their painful sproutings My truss in parched seasons To the sparrows Their winged offerings Musk of night meadows To my mother Who lived in a mirror My mother Me in old age And to the earth Hoarding in green seeds My passion to refrain I will say good day again I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm coming My hair, the smell of earth under earth My eyes The dark knowledge of days Bearing thistle I have picked From the other side of the wall I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm coming Good day, I will say again To the young girl And all the rest of you Standing In the liminality of love

It is a wonderful page. I plan to revisit it often, as I love Persian history and architecture. As a Bahai, Iran holds a special place in my heart, despite the persecution of the Bahai community.

Living Life Tomorrow's fate, though thou be wise, Thou canst not tell nor yet surmise; Pass, therefore, not today in vain, For it will never come again. Omar Khayyam A treasure house of Persian art for which there is considerable gratitude.
