Veteran4Peace rated 7 weeks agobicycling - I would bike to my work except I live in Dallas and I'm quite sure I would die horribly.
dist0rtedwave rated 3 months agobicycling - 5 and 6 are an interesting combination. With the gas you will save, you can afford to get yourself a better bike before too long. Especially if you replace a slow drive every single day. It adds up fast.
bradlykf rated 3 months agobicycling, commuting, bicycle, biking, bicycle-advocacy - great bike commuting article
marqos rated 4 months agobicycling - Good points one and all:
1. A 10K (6 mile) bike commute doesn't take that much longer than a car.
2. The shortest route is not necessarily the quickest.
3. Bikes encourage you to take the long way home.
4. You don't need special bike clothing to ride your bicycle to work.
5. You can buy some pretty nice bike gear for the price of a tank of gas these days.
6. You don't need an expensive bike to commute and have fun.
7. Bikes build community and connect people.
Nice work... I quibble with No. 3, sort of. Since I don't get off work til about 1 a.m., I'm not taking the long way home, really ever. I do take the long way to work once in a while, tho....
GraceBelle rated 4 months agobicycling - Good stuff, but if you live in the South, you can't ride your bike to work because you'll be a disgusting, sweaty mess.
barondavis4mvp rated 4 months agobicycling - good points.
gavinhudson rated 4 months agobicycling - A must read (or at least skim) for the regular biker.
bicyclerepairman rated 4 months agobicycling, commuting - there is always a way to ride if you really wanna.
CrenTIScO rated 4 months agobicycling - Unfortunately for me, I live in southern California, and my daily commute involves a 30 mile drive round trip.
netsirkuit rated 4 months agobicycling, commuting, spokane, going-green, biking - Convincing reasons for biking to work!
