another favorite childhood book
San Francisco-based artist, Mario Martinez (aka MARS-1) is an emerging painter and visual artist, with roots in West Coast graffiti art. Working primarily on canvases and in sculpture, his unique style has been described as urban-Gothic, a dimensional grid of self-echoing harmonics, and sci-fi abstracted, quasi-organic form.
I am a fan of graffiti art on trains. who would have guessed it!
"Normally, in the Semitic cultures, the soul of a person, their vital essence, adheres to the bones of the deceased," said David Schloen, an archaeologist at the university's Oriental Institute and director of the excavations. "But here we have a culture that believed the soul is not in the corpse but has been transferred to the mortuary stone."
