Music - News - Dr. Pepper keep Guns N Roses pledge - Digital Spy
Oct 24, 2008 3:39pm    (1 review)  bizarre  http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a13355...

From the page: "Soft drinks firm Dr. Pepper has kept its free drinks pledge to mark Guns N' Roses Chinese Democracy album release. Earlier this year, the company promised that, if Axl Rose's band finally completed work on the LP, every American would be entitled to a free beverage.

Guns N' Roses spent 15 years working on the record, which is confirmed for release on November 24. A spokesperson said: "We never thought this day would come. Now it's here, all we can say is the Dr. Pepper's on us."

Americans can visit Dr. Pepper's website and register for a free voucher during a 24-hour period following the disc's release. "

BBC NEWS | Special Reports | Vote USA 2008 | Washington diary: Pigs and...
Sep 10, 2008 4:03pm    (3 reviews)  politics, humour  http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/amer...

From the page: "Can the presidential candidates please stop obsessing about tedious issues like the broken economy and the creeping resurgence of the Taleban? Can we stop talking about the melting ice caps and hurricane highways, the conspicuously absent Kim Jong-il or the new permafrost between Russia and the West?

Can we please ignore the two strategic Russian bombers which landed in Venezuela today, evoking unpleasant memories of the Cold War in America's backyard? Can we just stop fretting about the record number of foreclosures and the meltdown on Wall Street?

Please - let us have a real eyeball-to-eyeball, toe-to-toe debate about lipstick and pigs. "

From the page: "With photo-editing software becoming ever more sophisticated, and the internet allowing instant distribution, it has never been easier to create and spread hoax images. Below we present 20 of the most striking, interesting and controversial fake photos, most of them produced in the last five years.

Some were created to amuse, some to mislead, while others were an attempt to rewrite history. And although the credulity of the internet has been blamed for allowing hoax photos to flourish, several of the fakes below were actually uncovered by bloggers after being distributed by mainstream media outlets."

The first online guide to the absurdly addictive Facebook game MouseHunt. Once you start chasing those virtual mice, I'm afraid you're hooked. This is a great place to go for tips and hints; I can see it becoming a useful resource for anyone who is as addicted to the game as I am.

Bebo to send friend request to aliens - vnunet.com
Aug 6, 2008 7:14pm    (2 reviews)  bizarre  http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/222321...

Bebo is sending messages up into space for aliens to find. Which
calls for a hearty rendition of the finale of Monty Python's Galaxy Song:

So remember when you're feeling very small and insecure,
how amazingly unlikely is your birth...
and pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space,
because there's bugger all down here on Earth.

The Straight Dope: Why do folks say &Jesus H. Christ&?
Jul 14, 2008 10:11am    (2 reviews)  christianity, humour  http://www.straightdope.com/classics/a1_...

From the page: "Dear Cecil: How come people always say "Jesus H. Christ"? Why not Jesus Q. Christ or Jesus R. Christ or something else? Does the H really stand for something? My future peace of mind depends on your answer. --W.B.T., Chicago

Dear W.: The H stands for Harold, as in, "Our Father, who art in heaven, Harold be thy name" (snort)."

Myspace.com Blogs - Stupidest song? - Katharine Lazarou MySpace Blog
Jul 11, 2008 2:25pm    (1 review)  humor, humour, music, blogs  http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseac...

I just came across this ancient Myspace post written by my little sister Katharine, and was so amused that I had to link it up to my blog here.

From the page: "Stupidest song? How about this for stupid song of the century.

Nickelback's "If Everyone Cared":
If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
Then we'd see the day,WHEN NOBODY DIED.

Yes that's right, let me present to you Nickelback's entry into the 1st grade poetry contest, rhyming cried, lied, pride, and died all in a row. Yay for Nickelback. pS we will all die anyway, nickelback, you bloated buffoons."

Good girl, Kat.
