Guth Gafa International Documentary Festival 2009 - Home

What? It's not been stumbled before? I guess that means I got to go through my bookmarks and give some well deserved mentoins to events like this.

This year was it's third year and I am just back from there where I talked about the Tara project at a seminar. Anyways, the festival was fantastic and I will try my best be there again next year.

Here's some info from the site..


"The aims and objectives of the festival are to bring to the Donegal Gaeltacht, documentary films made to the highest international standards, including in the Irish language; to promote the use of Irish in the documentary film industry by developing a festival that operates through Irish and that is Gaeltacht based; to attract internationally renowned film directors to Ireland and to introduce them to a national and local audience; to contribute to the local economy by bringing in a significant number of international visitors and by attracting a large local and national audience to festival events; to stimulate the development of best international practice in documentary film making by providing a forum for screening, discussions and masterclasses; to specifically target selected audiences ranging from local community groups, schools, third level colleges, producers, directors, broadcasters and distributors, and to bring them together in the intimate setting of the Donegal Gaeltacht.."

while looking for some info on vjforums.com i stumbled upon this old post..

how very strange.. a vj group in holland using the name PVC (protestant video collectiv) talking about vj perfomance styles as "protestant vs cathoic" and justifying it as an artistic statement.. or something

so, i got to my 999th post on stumbleupon.. i've been there since july 2006 so it has taken a while to get there. i don't stumble everything.. i go through phases and use other service to track my net favs too. but i like stumbleupon a lot especially the community aspect to it. sharing with like minds and all that. so i decided that post # 1000 has to be something ro mark the occasion.. so i thought.. what does the number 1000 mean to me.. then i remembered that Moby tune.. so i found it and decided to make a video pice.. search youtube.. what is nice in a 1000 search?.. aha .. 1000-Hand Guan-Yin Dance. youtube.com/watch [youtube.com/watch] so i though first just replace the audio and that would do, but seen a i was procrastinating i decided to do a vj thing with it. here is the result. could be better but didn't want to spend any more time on it. got lots to do! enjoy
