I have been asked by lot of people over the years from the days of my teaching at RMIT and at Ericsson now, what books a programmer or a Software developer must have in his/her bookshelf. I have been thinking of this for a while and this what i have compiled. These books must be read by every developer or software engineer before writing a piece of code. I have categorized them under

David Mertz from Gnosis Software has come out with a list of standard files
which every website should have which are neglected by many. Most of these files are about how sites are structured, what conventions are followed, and by providing these standard files you are making sure you have a fundamental structure to a website which covers most aspect of your business/organization/individual. This requirement is not technically driven but more about what minimum gets presented and how much use is this for end user.
