"Psalms 31:9 Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.

Psalms 121:1 & 2 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

1st Peter 4:12 & 13 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Jeremiah29:11-13 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

BREAKING NEWS: Senate plans to vote tomorrow night (Wednesday) on a Bailout of Wall Street. Warm up those fax machines and start calling your representatives.

They have made NO SUBSTANTIVE CHANGES to the failed House bill. All they have done is add some ornaments to the Wall Street Christmas tree. Make your voice heard!!!

Please realize that the bailout is NOT dead. You need to keep calling and faxing. Our best efforts should stay focused on the House: use the roll call of the House vote (see below) to guide your calls -- it is most effective to contact those representatives who voted "NO" (i.e., against the bailout) and convey your appreciation and approval!

Also, here is a list of vulnerable (i.e., in a close race) House members with their phone numbers. Mish calls it the Congressional most endangerd list. CALL THEM FIRST!! Tell them you will not vote for a supporter of the bailout!"

    From the page: "
For a complete revolution to take place there are six stages which should be completed,
though it is impossible to predict the exact course of a revolution so this is just a guideline.

  • The first of the stages is breaking away from the past, this is the stage that takes place even before the revolutionaries can think of setting up a new order for society. This stage is the weakening of the old society or government.
  • Now that the the old order has fallen there is an apparent period of calming down, though peoples expectations are still high, if the new order doesn't resolve the issues that caused the political upheaval in the first place then the days of moderation will be short lived, this stage is called '' The weakness of Moderates''.
  • A revolution is like starting again with a clean plate, so there is a radical backlash against prior powers. This stage eliminates all the old order and it's sympathisers, as they are seen as evil or corrupt, shortly anyone who is suspected of sharing or longing to go back to the old ways could become a target for social cleansing. This stage is called ''wiping out the past'' for obvious reasons.
  • The next stage is the ''temporary set back'' or ''Thermidor'', this is when a revolution tries to turn back, though these temporary retreats are usually just pauses to regain strength.
  • Then comes dictatorship or ''Bonapartism'', meaning that all the ideals in a revolution are ultimately betrayed by a dictator. Bonapartism is the gaining of power using military strength.
  • The final stage is restoration, this is the loop in the stages, when everything returns to basically the way it was except under a different power.
  • After roughly all these stages have been passed there has been a definite revolution."

So we may then be in the final two stages of the American Revolution. "Say hi to the new boss, same as the old boss..."

    Senate blocks president's immigration proposal
Q1x00142_9USA TODAY's Kathy Kiely says the scene in the Senate is one of the most dramatic she's seen in more than 25 years of covering politics in the capital.

She says two cabinet secretaries -- Homeland Security's Michael Chertoff and Commerce's Carlos Gutierrez -- were posted outside the chamber and lobbying lawmakers as they went in to vote on the president's immigration proposal.

How much sleep did they get? "Everyone was up last night," Gutierrez, clutching a paper cup of coffee, says.

It doesn't look like their efforts have had much impact. The Associated Press is reporting that preliminary results from the roll call, which is still underway, show that opponents have enough votes to block the bill. (Update: Supporters fell seven votes short of the 60 votes they needed to advance the bill.)"

    Soviet-Style `Torture' Becomes `Interrogation'

    By SCOTT SHANE

HOW did the United States, in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, come to adopt interrogation techniques copied from the Soviet Union and other cold war adversaries?

Investigators for the Senate Armed Services Committee are examining how the methods, long used to train Americans for what they may face as prisoners of war, became the basis for American interrogations.

In 2002, the C.I.A. and the Pentagon became concerned that standard questioning was inadequate for suspected terrorists and turned to a military training program called Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape, or SERE. For decades, SERE trainers had exposed aviators and others at high risk for capture to Soviet-style tactics, including disrupted sleep, exposure to extreme heat and cold, and hours in uncomfortable stress positions. Sometimes the ordeal included waterboarding, in which a prisoner's face is covered with cloth and water is poured from above to create a feeling of suffocation.

Some of those techniques have been used on prisoners at Guantánamo Bay and in Afghanistan and Iraq, and at the C.I.A.'s secret overseas jails for high-level operatives of Al Qaeda.

Many SERE veterans were appalled at the "reverse engineering" of their methods, said Charles A. Morgan III, a Yale psychiatrist who has worked closely with SERE trainers for a decade.

"How did something used as an example of what an unethical government would do become something we do?" he asked.

His question is only underscored by a 1956 article, "Communist Interrogation," in The Archives of Neurology and Psychiatry, recently turned up by the Intelligence Science Board, which advises the spy agencies. Written by doctors working as Defense Department consultants, Lawrence E. Hinkle Jr. and Harold G. Wolff, the article shows that methods embraced after 2001 were once considered torture that would produce false information."

From the Page: "In order to strengthen the capacity of Canadian, U.S., and Mexican administration officials
and that of their respective legislatures to analyze, comprehend, and anticipate North
American integration, the CSIS North America Project proposes to carry out a series of
    seven closed-door roundtable sessions.
To capture the very best thinking on the six issues that will be covered, each of the
roundtable sessions will convene a combination of practitioners (from each respective
administration and legislature); stakeholders (from the private sector and conceivably even
labor unions); and highly specialized academics and analysts from Canada, the United States,
and Mexico. Limiting the number of participants to between 21 and 45 individuals--with an
equal number from each nation--should allow for free-flowing and balanced discussion.

Independent of these trilateral brainstorming sessions, the CSIS North America Project will
conduct additional research and review the very latest published and unpublished works
produced in all three countries. In the spirit of a North American partnership, the CSIS
North America Project is receptive to collaborating with Canadian and Mexican research
institutions. In Mexico, CSIS will be collaborating with the CIDE.

To adhere to the desired time line for this project, as well as to budgetary parameters, the

scenarios, such as Mapping the Global Future: Report of the National Intelligence Council's 2020
