The white man killed the Indians because they could not be enslaved. The Indians had no concept of owning the land and enslaving others and so they could not fathom the madness of the white man and his ways. The Indians had to be cleared from the land so the land could be conquered, fenced, plowed, stripped and paved.
But now we've contaminated the world with our madness. If it continues, very soon, the world will run a fever and the waters will rise and wash and dry away the sickness. But the earth will remain long after us. Mother earth has seen her share of children come and go extinct over the past billion or so years. Do you know it's true? -

I believe in cognitive dissonance as essential to understanding reality. My experience & yours can be opposing and both valid. (Cognitive dissonance is the ability to hold competing facts or beliefs in one's mind at the same time. We all do it at some level.) I believe that the more consciously we acknowledge cognitive dissonance the less we're compelled to judgment. Or to acknowledge one's hypocrisy. I often do things that I can't explain but I am honest about the inconsistency. -

Paid Lying: What Passes for Major Media Journalism

Today's major media journalism is biased, irresponsible, sensationalist reporting that distorts, exaggerates or misstates the truth. It's misinformation or agitprop disinformation masquerading as fact to boost circulation, readership, viewers, or listeners, and on vital issues lies about or suppresses uncomfortable truths to provide unqualified support for state and/or corporate interests - to the detriment of the greater good that's always sacrificed for profits and imperial aims.
As a result, major media sources produce a daily propaganda diet and what Project Censored calls "junk food news," and get most people to believe it. In their landmark book, Manufacturing Consent, Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky explained the "propaganda model" that controls the public message by "filter(ing)" disturbing truths, "leaving (behind) only the cleansed residue fit to print" or air.
Today the media is in crisis and a free and open society at risk at a time fiction substitutes for fact, news is carefully controlled, dissent marginalized, and on-air and print journalists support powerful interests as paid liars, or what famed journalist George Seldes (1890 - 1995) called "prostitutes of the press."
As a result, imperial wars are called liberating ones. Civil liberties are suppressed for our own good. Major topics go unaddressed or are misrepresented. Government and business interests are endorsed wholeheartedly. America is always called "beautiful." Beneficial social change is considered heresy. The market works best, we're told, so let it, and patriotism means supporting lawlessness and corporate outlaws by shopping till we drop.

I don't follow sports, but I hear that this Sosa guy, who is black, has had a "skin rejuvenation treatment" that has left him looking somewhat lighter. It's on the goddamned national news and everyone is like, oooh, the black guys tryin to look like whitey. But if Brian fuckin Williams gets a tan, no one says a goddamn word. Sure, you white fuckers can get as dark as the ace of spades and people tell you, "Oh, you look so good with that tan!" But when the black guy tries to look lighter it's like, what the fuck nigga! So I take my dog, Tom, to Pet Smart to get his nails trimmed. The lady asks me what breed he is. I say he's a North Texas Yard Dog. A blank look comes over her face then she leans over the counter to size up my dog. "That's a Shar Pei" she says. "You can tell by the wrinkles in the face. " Well, I didn't say anything because the lady is, after all, a professional. However, I have it on good authority that his father was a German Sheppard and his mother was a trollop. Shar Pei my ass. Those folks at Pet Smart sure do know their dogs.

Many followed the case of Daniel Hauser of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota when his fundamentalist Mom fled with him to avoid chemotherapy for his cancer on religious grounds. Few may be aware of the end of the story. He has completed his last chemotherapy sessions and is now cancer-free -- thanks to the judge who overrode his mother's objections.
Yes, I know what comes next.
"Of course he's cancer free, with all those christians praying for him, what did you expect?"
I expect the dozens of health professionals who were involved with his care to be acknowledged.
Silly christians, tricks are for kids.
