They really don't get it. The article he's referring to in the 'Hamas Charter' was written by a rogue member on his own initiative in 1988 and was soundly denounced by Hamas. The person was speaking for himself, not the organization. The actual charter of Hamas reads like the US Federalist Papers and no, they've never been about getting rid of Israel, just Zionism, which is racist as that movement considers faith first, then race, rather than humanity, to be the measure of a person's worth. To get rid of Israel would be against the religion and the only people who've 'wiped' anyone off the map is the Israelis. Golda Meir made it her mission in 1971 which is why Arab towns have been removed from most Israeli maps.
I agree, 8,000 is enough. What about the over 60,000 rounds, missiles and bombs Israel threw back at Gaza? Give me a break. The Palestinians aren't building walls on Israeli land. They haven't stole Israeli homes, businesses or passed laws that prevent Israelis from moving around, having equal rights or even owning property. The Palestinians don't man the checkpoints, have tanks, blockade the borders or arbitrarily arrest people, imprison Israeli children and worse. Israel's PR problem exists because of Israel's behavior, period. Very few people hate Israel or even Jews. What they hate is what Israel has done to Judaism and what Israel in the name of Judaism has done to them. No amount of slick PR can erase a lie or injustice. All it can do is postpone the inevitable: the end of Zionism and the beginning of new reality where in Israel all people are created and treated equally regardless of their race, religion or origin. The racists will leave when this happens and the good people on both sides will stay. I for one look forward to that day. It's been long enough.
