I hate how some people say that they voted for the discrimination of gay marriage (which is misleading: it's about allowing marriage to a group which has been denied this right; not granting a right that they never deserved) is due to religion.
There is so much that so many religions say (not just the "major three" monotheistic ones) that people don't follow, so freaking much! When you are voting against gay marriage based on religion, you're just lying to yourself. You're basing it on hate. You can't pick and choose which doctrines that you'll follow, you either are a follower or you're not.
Besides, gay marriage should not be an issue of religion. Your church should be able to decide whether or not gays are allowed to married within their church, but they should be able to marry through court of law because they live in America, and the freedom to marry is granted to any two consenting adults. That includes gays.
