iOS 6 has been devoured by the Apple community with 15% of the estimated 400 million iOSdevice users downloading the new update within the first 24 hours of release. There were immediate and justified rumblings regarding the inaccurate and sometimes comical iMaps but just as swiftly the focus turned to battery life, and this may amaze you, but the focus has shifted to battery life with the update of every single iOS to date.

N what has become an annual international event the iPhone 5 was announced in San Francisco, California yesterday and rather than rapturous praise for the new device the discerning consumer has been left thinking… and what else?
The app also includes a ‘Field Journal’ that can be used to record animal encounters; living in the centre of London, the best that I can hope for is a scrap with an urban fox, but anyone living near forests or fields should definitely check this feature out as it allows you to log information regarding your encounter.
Of all of the Batman bad guys, one of my favourite has to be The Riddler; sure he’s not as cool as The Joker or creepy as The Penguin (or as sexy as Catwoman!), but he certainly knows the value of a good puzzle. I’d like to think that we’d bond over Puzzle World 2, an engaging and entertaining iPhone app that has had me glued to the screen for the past week.
Remember that nasty flashback trojan infecting over 600k Macs? Well those worried can breathe a sigh of relief, as Apple released a software update last night which fixes the Java vulnerability.
MS Car Insurance covers all aspects of car insurance, from renewing your annual insurance to comparing offers from various companies; the fact that you can manage all of this from your iPad or iPhone means that you turn a traditionally hassle-heavy chore into a relatively painless procedure that only takes a couple of minutes.
Whilst this app may not be as exciting as a gaming app, it is a lot more useful to anyone who wants to keep their address book in order; for the sake of a couple of bucks, you can save an infinite amount of time trawling through your address book and checking contacts for duplicates…totally worth it, in my opinion.
With the recession still rearing its ugly head, we’re all looking to save money wherever we can; which is why it’s great news that Mahalo are giving their 19 top-selling apps away for free!
The first new product announced at the Apple event going on right now is a new Apple TV set top box. The new version brings with it a new easy to us user interface. It also has full iCloud integration, so you can pull down your movies, music, and photos right form the cloud. Unlike the previous offering, this new Apple tv supports full 1080p resolution and best of all it’s still available for only $99.
Anyone with even the remotest interest in electronic music will doubtless be familiar with the brand Korg. They are the quintessential brand name for anyone wanting to give their songs that instant 80’s feel and it has been responsible for the current revival of synth-bands that are now packing up the airwaves.
A new epic fantasy app called ‘Askaryl’s Grimoire’, are running a free competition that will allow the winner to name the above character, which is featured in the app.
Apple is changing their iPad strategy to reflect that of it’s iPhone. Even though the new iPad was formally announced at the iPad 2′s price point. the iPad 2 isn’t being discontinued. Instead it’s being given a price cut to $399, and will continue to be sold as the budget tablet option. IT may not have the A5X or retina display, but its still a very functional tablet. I’m glad to see it isn’t being abandoned.
The new iPad is finally official! First new feature is the one we had confirmed yesterday, the retina display. This new iPad runs at a resolution of 2048×1536 that is over a million more pixels than a full HD 1080p display and on a 9.7-ince display that is sure to look amazing. It isn’t all resolution either, as this new display promises 40% better color saturation.
