Two of my favourite quotes: "Don't walk behind me - I might not lead; don't walk in front of me - I might not follow; just walk beside me and be my friend" - Albert Camus "Life, at its best, is a flowing, changing process in which nothing is fixed." - Carl R. Rogers Isn't it exciting to be alive? Frightening at times, but what a challenge! - those are thoughts from me! Another quote I find useful, by A.J. Muste: "There is no way to peace, peace is the way." And on a similar note though more graphically expressed by I think Jerry Rubin: "Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity." The footsteps in question were discovered by geologist Dave Roberts in 1995 on a beach at the achingly beautiful Langebaan Lagoon, which lies about an hour-and-a-half's drive, or around 100 kilometres, north of Cape Town.

Beggars are a common sight all over the world, and South Africa is no exception. Almost every intersection in every city in the country has its population of people begging. But one man's encounter with a caring woman might be chelping to change perceptions

The V&A Waterfront in Cape Town is a great mix of very modern shopping malls and very old (at least by South African standards) buildings. The Clock Tower, a much-loved feature, is a Victorian Gothic building.

Praise the Day!
"Some live by love thy neighbor as thyself,
others by first do no harm or take no more
than you need. What if the mightiest word is love?

Love beyond marital, filial, national,
love that casts a widening pool of light,
love with no need to pre-empt grievance.

In today's sharp sparkle, this winter air,
any thing can be made, any sentence begun.
On the brink, on the brim, on the cusp,

praise song for walking forward in that light."

On November 7, 2008, at 9:45 am, the 500 people attending the Alliance for a New Humanity Human Forum in Barcelona took a vow for non violence in their thoughts, speech and actions. Each person decided to ask other people in their lives to join them in taking the vow. The goal then became to create a global movement, which would mobilize 100 million people to make the same commitment.
