I wonder what causes this- Is it due to expectations, or are minorities generally from poorer backgrounds, or is it something else entirely?
The writer does gloss over some of the benefit of better notation - for an example compare multiplying in roman numerals with multiplying in decimal - but I really like his summary of what programmers do.
