- This is an issue dear to my heart. My English degree makes me cringe as I place the period outside the quotes, but if I don't people will include it in their copy/paste and make mistakes.

If you're looking to escape the sordid world of GoDaddy, consider DreamHost or HostGator. They won't try to trick you into buying things you don't need, and have much more usable control panels.
