From the page: "• Civilians were used as human shields, entering buildings ahead of soldiers

    • Large swathes of homes and buildings were demolished. Accounts say that this was often done because the houses might be booby-trapped, or cover tunnels. Testimony mentioned a policy referred to as "the day after", whereby areas near the border where razed to make future military operations easier

    • There was widespread vandalism of property of Palestinians

    • Soldiers firing at water tanks because they were bored, at a time of severe water shortages for Gazans

    • White phosphorus was used in civilian areas gratuitously and recklessly

    • Many of the soldiers said there had been very little direct engagement with Palestinian militants"

From the page: "It says "disturbing questions" remain unanswered as to why children playing on roofs and medical staff attending the wounded were killed by "highly accurate missiles" whose operators had detailed views of their targets.

Lives were lost because Israeli forces "frequently obstructed access to medical care," the report says. It also reiterates previous condemnations of the use of "imprecise" weapons such as white phosphorous and artillery shells.

...Amnesty does accuse Israel of using civilians, including children, as human shields in Gaza, forcing them to remain in houses which its troops were using as military positions, and to inspect sites suspected of being booby trapped."

Rated Mar 26 2009 5 reviews israel, gaza, sudan bbc.co.uk

Israel bombed Sudan to prevent weapons from reaching Gaza, so Israel could continue to slaughter Gaza's defenseless concentration-camp population.

From the page: "Giving a speech in the coastal town of Herzliya, the outgoing prime minister said: "We operate in many places near and far, and carry out strikes in a manner that strengthens our deterrence."

The CBS television network said it had been told by American officials that a strike by Israeli planes in January had succeeded in preventing weapons from Sudan reaching Gaza.

Mr Mabrook Mubarak Saleem said those killed in the air raid had been civilians from a number of African countries."

From the page: "On Thursday, Israel rejected a shipment of 960 boxes of tuna, canned meat, diapers, wet wipes, sterile gauze, blankets and candles, along with 184 boxes of flashlights, Mr. Sumka said. A week earlier Israel had approved the shipment, but reversed the decision Wednesday evening, he said. "When you're dealing with that kind of uncertainty it makes it hard for us to plan, it creates inefficiencies and it certainly makes it more costly to deliver the assistance," said Mr. Sumka.

U.S. and other Western officials say that in recent weeks Israel has rejected shipments including toothbrushes, tomato paste, toys, sesame-based sweet halvah, soap and sanitary napkins."

  • Obama on Israel-Palestine

From the page: "Obama's talk emphasized his commitment to a peaceful settlement. He left its contours vague, apart from one specific proposal: "the Arab peace initiative," Obama said, "contains constructive elements that could help advance these efforts. Now is the time for Arab states to act on the initiative's promise by supporting the Palestinian government under President Abbas and Prime Minister Fayyad, taking steps towards normalizing relations with Israel, and by standing up to extremism that threatens us all."

...A minor technicality is that Abbas's term ran out on January 9, and that Fayyad was appointed without confirmation by the Palestinian parliament (many of them kidnapped and in Israeli prisons). Ha'aretz describes Fayyad as "a strange bird in Palestinian politics. On the one hand, he is the Palestinian politician most esteemed by Israel and the West. However, on the other hand, he has no electoral power whatsoever in Gaza or the West Bank." The report also notes Fayyad's "close relationship with the Israeli establishment," notably his friendship with Sharon's extremist adviser Dov Weiglass. Though lacking popular support, he is regarded as competent and honest, not the norm in the US-backed political sectors.

Obama's insistence that only Abbas and Fayyad exist conforms to the consistent Western contempt for democracy unless it is under control."

When the stated goals of Israel's "war" on its concentration camp are terrorist, and the concentration camp population is mostly children, it is no surprise that the children would suffer.

The region's superpower spread terror throughout its Gazan concentration camp, but the world's most advanced weaponry was not enough. Israel had to bring the Holocaust comparisons as close as possible by burning Gazans to the bone with white phosphorous. Now the war criminals will investigate themselves. Justice to follow.
