Butterflies to Angel submitted by Satasha Stewart of Virginia, USA.
"Lord, if this is of you, I want it."
I pleaded under my breath while reading the many gifts of the Spirit.
"What if I try and nothing happens? Will it mean that I am not worthy to be 'touched'?"
Fear laced within questions began to flood my mind making me pull further into myself. I was not brought up in the church but I believed there was something more out there. For months I watched others sing, dance, run, and shout.
I sat and stood, watching and wanting to join in but didn't want to fake it.
I decided to trust God and see what happens and said a simple prayer before drifting to sleep. While asleep I heard a whistling sound around me that started to increase in sound. Suddenly, I had an urge to open my mouth to scream and when I opened my mouth I spoke in a language that I could not comprehend. Afterward, I felt out of breath as I then began to hear voices talking all around me but I could not pinpoint what they were saying. All of a sudden I heard, "Hallelujah." Then, I found myself at a friend's house.
While in my friend's house I saw a beautiful green butterfly flying around. Even though it was a harmless butterfly, I was terrified. I got up to run away but my friend grabbed me and said, "It just wants to rest on you. "The butterfly got bigger and bigger as I watched. The minute it landed on my head I freaked out, jerking myself awake.
That morning I took my car to the mechanic. As I sat in the waiting room, I opened my bible and hoped I would find an answer to what happened that night. As soon as I opened my bible, a woman came up to me and asked, "May I sit with you?" I looked around and saw there were plenty of seats and another empty table next to me. I kindly said yes. "What are you reading?" she asked, with a pleasant smile.
"My bible. I need understanding." "What are you trying to understand?" she replied. I felt comfortable with her so I told her about my dream; she listened as if she already knew my story. Afterward, she smiled again and said, "You spoke directly to God last night. You pleading and wanting to be touched by God happened. Don't be afraid of the re-birth and change that is taking place. You are worthy--hallelujah."
Not long after, I was called back to get a report on my car. When I returned to the waiting room she was gone. I started to think about what she told me, "I'm worthy and I was touched." I thought longer and realized I didn't tell her about feeling unworthy to be touched. "How did she know that?" I looked out into the parking lot but did not find her.
I re-opened my bible to read and the scripture my eyes landed on made me drop my mouth in shock. It read "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." While driving home, I thought about the conversation when suddenly, I saw a green butterfly fly across my windshield. All I could do was smile and laugh all the way home.
