It always beats me why so many Americans despise socialism so much. Perhaps, as one friend from the US once did, they get confused between socialism and national socialism, which are very different beasts altogether. Or perhaps decades of being told that it is bad wears people down. Although its days may be numbered, even in Europe, what socialism did for the good far outweighs the downside.

Without a peculiar form of socialism you never would have got Yosemite (and the other parks too). They would by now have been wastelands, ravaged by uncontrolled capitalism!

Oh yeah, and the cartoon, despite the obvious anachronism, is very funny.
