Pilate’s legend in The Harbor is so vicious, the body count so high, his ruthlessness so ingrained in the local lore that Theodosius has trouble believing he’s even real. It feels to him like all the frightened whispers are nothing more than a series of ever-exaggerating tall tales. And even if he does exist, the dirty cop firmly believes that all those stories are way overblown. Is Pilate a real live human being? Maybe. But a vampire? Not so much. But we believe only in what allows us to get through the day and sleep well at night. Especially when potent narcs are being peddled and so much money is on the line. Unfortunately, Pilate is very real and every bit the horror he’s heard to be. As poor Theodosius will soon witness himself, much to his chagrin.
