Anyone who deprives anyone else, ever, of things they need for survival becomes the rightful enemy of the needer, and legitimately subject to all necessary actions by the needer to acquire that which he or she needs. I, STEVEDTRM hold that it is self preservation, NOT self defense that is the ultimate justification of sentient action. Generally, anyone who does not realise this is the victim of youth, superstition or retardation. Of course, in the case of unborn infants there is nothing the needer can do to defend itself. And this fact is the ultimate arbiter of survival, but the principle when applied to human affairs more generally, is CRUCIAL.
This is the contrary, perverse right wing argument, on a superb page that everyone should be forced to write an essay on.: "Thomson takes it that you may now permissibly unplug yourself from the violinist even though this will cause his death: the right to life, Thomson says, does not entail the right to use another person's body, and so by unplugging the violinist you do not violate his right to life but merely deprive him of somethingâ€"the use of your bodyâ€"to which he has no right.
