Miacid to proailurus to Felis Lunensis to Felis Sylvestris Grampia - the Scottish Wildcat - as well as the common housecat - is a lineage to be proud of.
About 9,000 years ago, the European wildcats walked back over the ice bridge to Europe, leaving some of their kin behind in the British Isles to differintiate into Felis Sylvestris Grampia. Somehow, man has failed in the intervening years to render this beautiful feline extinct.
Currently, there remain only about 400 true Scottish wildcats. Interbreeding with domestic cats has been a problem, so keep Tom home, or get him fixed, please!
