As indicated by its name, the Alan Parsons Project was not a band so much as a concept overseen by the titular Parsons, a successful producer and engineer. Born in Britain on December 20, 1949, he began his musical career as a staff engineer at EMI Studios, and first garnered significant industry exposure via his work on the Beatles' 1969 masterpiece, Abbey Road. Parsons subsequently worked with Paul McCartney on several of Wings' earliest albums; he also oversaw recordings from Al Stewart, Cockney Rebel, and Pilot, but solidified his reputation by working on Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.

Here's a picture of the aftermath in Tulsa of the June 8th, 1974 tornado. I was taking Driver's Ed, and we used these antiquated simulators which, basically, utilized a movie taken from a car. Anyway, the trailer with the simulators was also blown down, so we just had to... drive!

The electricity was out for days...

He often accused the government, media and pop culture figures - among whom he included the Beatles - of promoting Communism. ..."

"Hargis was also a member of the John Birch Society, and made his pro-segregation stance clear, once accusing Martin Luther King Jr. of being a Communist-educated traitor and publishing James D. Bales's anti-King book The Martin Luther King Story.

"He often urged his listeners to take action by writing their Congressmen and Senators, and was one of the first fundamentalist Christian personalities to urge his audiences to become politically involved - a tactic that was not lost on his successors.
