Rick and I were eighteen, and besides wanting a family, we didn't know much how to do it!

Now our daughter is eighteen. She is a full time college student, doing volunteer work all over our city and county. She worked full time in a Help Desk environment over the summer, and received praise for her work ethic and performance.

When she has free time, she drives to Des Plaines to help my seventy-one year mother with whatever she can help with.

Respecting our partner has to be built on the recognition that they are fully functional and remarkably capable people. You partner may not be as good as you are at organization, or baseball, or cooking, or gardening or whatever. But, guess what? You aren't as good as they are at many things. Which of you is better? The only answer in a successful partnership is neither!

Partnership can never be about whom is better. Partnership is about recognizing each party's strengths and about recognizing our own weaknesses.

You are in my arms holding my soul.
Enticing me into the fire;
And for moments so true, I am whole.
