STAY TUNED 4 FUNK ASS GROOVER OF A CONCEPT ALBUM - REVELATOR - IT'LL BLOW YOUR MIND!!!
Artist Bio
Sophia Ramos ['rah-mos] doesn't just "gig"; that word is too puny to describe her concerts. Sophia's spitfire performances have the aura of once-in-a-generation rock & roll happenings, leaving audiences mesmerized and intoxicated.
Conjuring the combined spirits of Hendrix, Mercury and Jagger, Sophia prowls her stage like a groove-crazed sorceress, wielding her astonishing voice like Luke Skywalker's sword. |

CONTRE TOUS LES STEREOTYPES
Sophia Ramos is the best woman singer in NYC, maybe in the USA, maybe even the world!
She's a cross between Janis Joplin, Patti LaBelle and Jimi Hendrix.
I was a fan of her now-defunct band, Sophia's Toy and I was pleased to
sing backup for her at the Loser's Lounge at NYC's Fez
Sean Altman

NB: REVELATOR IS A CONCEPT ALBUM THAT FOCUSES ON
LIFE IN MODERN DAY AMERICA -
ISSUES RANGE FROM RACISM, SEXISM, INTERNET DATING, ETC.
SPREAD THE WORD:

IT'S TIME GOOD OL' ROCK'N'ROLL HAD ITS MAINSTREAM COMEBACK.
WE OWE IT TO TEENAGERS WHO ARE YET TO DISCOVER
JIMI HENDRIX & SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE.

On her stunning CD Her Majesty, Sophia confesses loss, struggle, faith and survival with honesty and wisdom.
Indeed, Sophia is the rare composer who has both mastered her craft and tapped the wellspring of universal emotion with sincerity and a mighty dose of brute force.
Sophia's impassioned voice - alternately James Brown and Chris Cornell, lyrical insight, and physical charisma empower her infectious melodies.
The result is a truly compelling album.

- Sophia Ramos: Serpentine Singer - by Michelle Shocked
What's amazing about Sophia Ramos is that she has this wonderful background of gospel and R&B styles, but she also likes to just kick ass, because she's a rock 'n' roll baby first and foremost. But I remember her being told by record-company executives, "You should play the music of your people." It was that blunt--because she's Puerto Rican, they didn't think she should play rock 'n' roll. And I was so impressed that instead of being discouraged by them, she had a vision for herself and the kind of music that was true to her heart, which I feel is expressed very well in her band, Sophia's Toy.
She didn't stereotype herself even though others tried to. I think Sophia is a poster child for what I call the new omni-American, someone who truly represents American culture. I'm not really a fan of the idea of multiculturalism, but I feel like she's got so much at her fingertips. She offers a real new perspective on the way race figures into pop music today because she has all the cultural references available to her. She's got it all. And if you see the girl dance to salsa, man, she's so fun and lively, she's like a charmed snake.
