If we are thoughtful, and polite, and engage them in pleasant conversation they may feel free to stop by...and catch us as we really are.
After a half century of concealing my true self behind a fabricated persona, I have decided that it is no longer worth the trouble. Click, don't click, I couldn't possibly care less.
(Well...except for you, and possibly you.)

- The Violent Oppression of Women in Islam - Videos - Terrorism Awareness...
Jun 30, 6:54am (3 reviews) islam http://www.terrorismawareness.org/videos...- Dear Lover of Freedom:
Over the past two weeks, we have watched Iranians in the streets of Teheran protesting against a stolen election and stolen lives. Brave young women have been in the forefront of these confrontations with the killer elites backing the mullahs'' theo-fascist regime.
These women have urged their male counterparts on in their demonstrations against a rigged vote and even more in behalf of liberty. They have rushed to rescue men being beaten to death by the Revolutionary Guard and basiji bullies.
Recognizing the key role they have played, the Ahmadinejad regime has subjected them to particularly sadistic punishment. You have probably seen the horrifying video of the murder of one of these young women, Neda Agha-Soltari. Her death in a gutter has become the summary moment of this uprising.
The women risking their lives in Tehran are crying out for democracy. But they are also driven by outrage against the repression that characterizes their daily lives and prospects in a world ruled by male "guardians".
What these courageous Iranian women are fighting against in their struggle for the personal liberty we take for granted is the subject of this video, "The Violent Oppression of Women in Islam". This is the reality that women in Iran and throughout the Middle East must deal with. Please watch it. Please send it to your friends. Please post it on your websites. Digital Object Identifier 10.1109/EUMC.2007.4405498
Summary:24 GHz ultra-wide band short-range radar sensors are designed to improve safety and comfort functions in automotive applications. For cost-effective production these sensors can be manufactured as SiGe radar sensors. For an improved ACC functionality the 77 GHz long-range radar is combined with 24 GHz UWB short-range radar. This sensor fusion allows the detection of objects in the near surroundings of the vehicle thus enabling ACC Stop&Go in urban traffic. This paper describes the current status of SRR sensors in automotive applications.
That's the way you do it! Stick a handfull of these around your car and run the returns through a standardizer: Your digitally encoded returns are compared with yours and the returns of others for known objects and matched with the 3D construct for that spot of the road to verify and maintain your position on it. Your car will compare and contrast your results with those of your fellow motorists in real time verifying all this with GPS.
Simple. Imagine a radar version of Google Streets.
- Security Fix - Microsoft Update Quietly Installs Firefox Extension

Annoyances.org, which lists various aspects of Windows that are, well, annoying, says "this update adds to Firefox one of the most dangerous vulnerabilities present in all versions of Internet Explorer: the ability for Web sites to easily and quietly install software on your PC."
I especially like the part about adding: "...the ability to report..." Ha! It's beginning to sound a lot like ratware, their corporate vision.

Apr 28, 12:31pm (2 reviews) computers, windows, apple, mac http://www.macworld.com/article/140038/2...- I cringed when I read they had given him an Air Mac as his two week companion. Not the model I would use to introduce someone to the world outside their Windows. As it turned out...he liked it, a lot! The lacks were happily overcome and the plusses were gratefully welcomed-like the fact that he couldn't tell when he had it in his pack. Not a fluff piece, but a well written and fair evaluation of a piece of hardware and, more importantly, an integrated Operating System.
I just helped a friend buy her first Mac, a used 14" G4 iBook. It was with some trepidation, after all isn't this is O (obsolete) L (long in the tooth) D (dead) technology? But, like Mr. Gralla, I do believe she likes it more than a little. And, unlike Mr. Gralla, I don't think she will be returning to the Windows world. It was affordable and came with a new battery, won't get viruses blasted at every time she logs on, and-unlike older machines in the Windows world-it is snappy running the latest Macintosh software.
- Mighty, mighty broadband: The small city of Wilson is leading the way...

(Greenlight is a fiber optic communications service provided by the city of Wilson, NC after commercial providers declined to offer better service.)
A call to arms for national broadband
"Broadband is so important across so many different areas of life, it is in many respects like highways and electricity," said Jim Baller, a Washington-based attorney whose firm, Baller-Herbst, represents local governments and publicly owned utilities on technology matters.
Yet when it comes to building the infrastructure of the future, you can't get there from here.
"We have adopted a policy of letting the private sector do what they can do and pretty much leaving it at that," said Baller. "The result of that is that we are ranked at very mediocre levels in just about all of the world standards of success in broadband deployment."
Technology experts and, increasingly, major U.S. companies agree the country is falling behind in economic opportunity compared to Japan, Korea, Sweden, France and a half-dozen other countries that rate higher than the United States in broadband availability, speed and price.
The Federal Communications Commission recently revised its definition of "broadband," from 200 kilobits per second to 768 kbps, but even that's pitifully slow, when you consider that 85 percent of households in Japan have access to speeds of up to 100 megabits per second.
