Actually I think James Franco is pretty cool...not hot mind you, just cool. He was in a little B movie, Flyboys, a few years ago that failed at the box office but was not a bad film. Corny and kinda ridiculous at times but in an old school Hollywood sort of way. Good rental.

Google previewed its web based OS today. Sounds like a great idea, especially for netbooks. Could be the next big thing or the next Vista. Gotta give Google credit for innovation though.

How they went from search engine to this escapes me.

That has to be one of the most profoundly ignorant  and irresponsible things I've ever read.  The author obviously has absolutely no clue whatsoever about addiction.  Scroll down to the comments, they are quite scathing.

Really, really short versions of the classics.  I mean really short.  For example:

The Confessions of St. Augustine.

"I was a bad boy. Damn, was I a bad boy. Not anymore, though."

The End.

A very well done short story about Aragorn's search for Gollum.  I give them an A+  for effort, the production values are quite high and the director shows real talent.  This is a real labor of love.  But I do have a couple of issues (warning! spoiler and geek alert!):

First, Aragorn goes 1 on 1 with a Nazgul and doesn't get his ass handed to him within seconds. Don't get me wrong, I think Aragon is a great character but we're talking one of the Nine here.  A Ringwraith, a personal servant of Sauron.  Where's the dreaded Black Breath?

Second, the fight scenes are not well choreographed.  I know sword fights are very difficult to do well on film and they had severe budget constraints.  But you have to make sword fights fun and interesting to watch without being confusing or making the good guys look like they have superpowers.  The ones in the film needed to be tightened up a bit, in a couple of shots the big orc was so wide open I thought Aragorn had fallen asleep.

But these are minor quibbles really.  My inner geek doesn't get to vent much on StumbleUpon ;-)
