another of the shots i took today. sadly on my non-shiny, non-pro camera, ho hum!
don't worry, i'll stop posting 'em soon - i'm not keen on self promotion (when it comes to me anyway!)

i found this one on my hard-drive, so i don't think i've put it on stumble before, but if i have, sorry!
i took it whilst leaning out of a car window - don't worry, i wasn't driving and the sheep soon got off the road and back into their field (not that it was a busy road anyway)

i've been posting quite a few abandoned places pics lately. it's something i've always been interested in, but lately there's been some stonking great beauties about, so it's hard not to stumble 'em.

this one isn't a stonking great beauty, this one's by me.
i'm mostly posting it because i've been stumbling a lot of Andre
Govia's work lately and i fear if i start using even more of his pics, he's going to start charging me. or get me done for stalking.

i took this in an abandoned primary school, near where i used to live. i would give you more details, but i'm fair forgetful and all the info i had on the school was written on my flickr set...and as i haven't yet renewed my pro account, i can't see the pics. grr.
i used to pass the empty building every single day and think it was a pity that no-one had bothered to renovate it. then, just before i left Farnworth (where the school was), it got demolished and turned into a shiny-shiny community college. luckily for me, i'd got in there just a month or so (maybe even a few weeks, if i remember correctly) before it was knocked down.
there were huge fences around the front of property, which looked onto a fairly busy road and barbed wire fences around the back. there were also lots of signs, warning of DANGER! and scary security. i always did like a challenge though. plus, one of the benefits of being over 6 foot is having extra long legs than can allow you to shimmy up a 5 foot wall and then have a battle with the barbed wire when you get to the top
anyway, i found my way inside the school, took lots of snaps, got spooked by an army of pigeons, who were living on one of the upper floors (there were very few windows left intact by this point, plus there a co0nsiderable amount of the roof missing too).
i didn't spend too long in there, but it was like stepping back in time, seeing all the tiny chairs, the fading pink of the girls' loos, the broken desks...you could almost hear the chatter of the invisible children as they settled down before first bell

i've not taken many photos lately. maybe if there were more abandoned buildings about, i'd be more active. i shall have to pray the recession continues (joke)

i just 'discovered' quite a few kitty cat photos, so, in a bid for equal oppurtunities, here's a pic of a dog...but not just any dog, it's my pooch, Luca the Chooch!

i'm still a bit miffed at beauty in everything for using private photos with creative commons on them, especially when they are credited to some other photographer!, but i am pleased it reminded me of this old pic of the Chooch - when she was in her 'i like this scarf, do you mind if i carry it around with me?' phase. bless her.
for those of you interested, the rainbow scarf is no longer with us, but it did have a decent burial (by Luca) in our old backgarden

last time i looked on beauty in everything, i commented on the photos also appearing on flickr and that they didn't have any links to the photographer (which they now have) or a link back to flickr page (which is one of those strict flickr things, but they now have on the individual photo pages, rather than just the profile pages, as before)

i started looking at some shots today and noticed a photo from another of my flickr contacts. i've known him a few years and know he'd have mentioned if he was on here, so i got curious and searched one of my flickr names (my original page - my pro/private account is under samdiablo666, rather than samdiablo - the first doesn't show up, just tagged photos)
i was a bit p'd off to see some of my photos appear - the phot itself links back to samdiablo @ beauty in everything (and curiously 'sam', rather than 'samdiablo again', the name of another v early flickr account), rather than my flickr account, as does the copyright link underneath. the only mention of flickr is if you go right to the bottom rhs of the page.
i find it really odd cos i have the 'search off' option ticked on flickr, so they shouldn't be 'searchable', plus, even these, the cr@ppy snapshots, are under a creative commons license which means they can be used by others, but not if it involves a profit, et.c. - in other words,  for personal use, but not anything else

you may think i'm being petty, but i'm a bit vexed for a few reasons.  why have they been used on this website when they have a cc license - is this a sister site of flickr or something? but, most importantly, why have they chosen the sh!ttiest, snapshot, early-work photos when it came to mine? the bloody rotters!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    edit -

i've just been having a look at the link backs on a few of the pages with my shots on.

was surprised to see that one of my dog, the Chooch, has the copyright c/o somebody else! (Mars Hill Church Seattle...who?!?) - i think i may have to send a 'don't care what your association with flickr is, i have cc license on 'em, take my photos off your site, or at least credit them to me rather than some-one i've never heaqrd of, ta!' e-mail. i do have principals y'know!

bit of a cheek using some-one's work without asking, even bigger cheek when you credit it to some-one else, no matter how sh!t that photo may be!

an early snapshot of the Chooch, Luca, looking unimpressed - maybe by the fact the photo's been credited to another photographer. oh yeh, it has cc on it too, maybe that's what's giving her that disapproving look
