I have been using Corel/InterVideo WinDVD for years, paying annually for upgrades. The quality of rendering was the only reason for the loyalty: images were detailed, crisp and analogously film-like. The most recent upgrade fixed some annoying issues with surround sound but made me to say goodbye to the player: the tremendously fat piece of executable code stopped working in multimonitor environment.
The CCCP package, standalone nVidia PureVideo DVD Decoder (expensive enough, it outperforms others, and, oh, there are torrents in the air) and Media Player Classic (CCCP positions it as a free alternative to MS Media Player, it also gives away a free DVD decoder) made the breakup much easier. Sweet soft things.
