Rated Jul 21 2006 1 review graphic design, space, iss, space adventures, spacenews, spacewalk reseize.com

From the page: "Space tourists offered a spacewalk
Space Adventures, Ltd., my favorite travel agency, announced today that orbital spaceflight clients can now participate in a spacewalk during their stay aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Also known as an extra-vehicular activity (EVA), those clients interested in the spacewalk option have the availability to spend up to 1.5 hours outside of the space station.
Spacewalk candidates are required to participate in approximately a month of EVA simulations and other specialized training sessions, in addition to meeting the medical and physical requirements, familiarizing themselves with the Russian Soyuz TMA spacecraft and learning how to live aboard the ISS.
The current duration of a Space Adventures' orbital spaceflight mission is 10 days. Past orbital clients have paid $20 million (USD) for their spaceflight which includes six months of cosmonaut training. The addition of a spacewalk would lengthen the mission approximately six to eight days and the price for this option is $15 million (USD) which means that this all inclusive adventure only will cost $35 million (USD)."

From the page: "Peter Bialobrzeski's Tiger Cities
    Just enjoy these two pictures.
"Tiger Cities" are pictures of a high-rise, high- density megalopolis, where architecture is in constant metamorphosis, and where its residents truly are living in the fast lane.
Enchanted by the intense neon lights illuminating these cities so unlike Europe's older cities, Bialobrzeski sets out at a snail's pace with a traditional tripod-mounted view camera to record what he sees as a hypermodern fantasy world.
Bialobrzeski forces us, through a seductive and romantic palette, to understand that these futuristic, almost utopian downtown scenes are quite real and very much part of a daily routine for the millions of people who reside in these dense vertical cities."

A raised eyebrow, quizzical look or a nod of the head are just a few of the facial expressions computers could soon be using to read people's minds. An "emotionally aware" computer being developed by British and American scientists will be able to read an individual's thoughts by analysing a combination of facial movements that represent underlying feelings. Will NYSE, Euronext & LSE merge in 2008 into a new global exchange? Will sports & bets be incorporated into the financial markets and be one of its biggest assets? Will Will Amazon buy Ebay? ... It's actually so believable that it's creepy ... The following narrative has been written by Sean Park - Head of Digital Markets and Credit Flow products at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein (DrKW). He is also Director of Markit Group and International Index Company. It is entirely speculative and fictional and does not represent the opinion of DrKW or any of its affiliates."

From the page: "New System Blocks Digital Cameras
Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have completed a prototype device that can block digital-camera function in a given area. Commercial versions of the technology could be used to stymie unwanted use of video or still cameras. The prototype device, produced by a team in the Interactive and Intelligent Computing division of the Georgia Tech College of Computing (COC), uses off-the-shelf equipment %u2013 camera-mounted sensors, lighting equipment, a projector and a computer -- to scan for, find and neutralize digital cameras. The system works by looking for the reflectivity and shape of the image-producing sensors used in digital cameras. Gregory Abowd, an associate professor leading the project, says the new camera-neutralizing technology shows commercial promise in two principal fields %u2013 protecting limited areas against clandestine photography or stopping video copying in larger areas such as theaters..."

Back when he was 20 years old in 1965, rock star Pete Townshend wrote the line %u201CI hope I die before I get old%u201D into a song, %u201CMy Generation%u201D that launched his band, the Who, onto the rock %u2018n%u2019 roll scene. But a unique new study suggests that Townshend may have fallen victim to a common, and mistaken, belief: That the happiest days of people%u2019s lives occur when they%u2019re young. In fact, the study finds, both young people and older people think that young people are happier than older people %u2014 when in fact research has shown the opposite. And while both older and younger adults tend to equate old age with unhappiness for other people, individuals tend to think they%u2019ll be happier than most in their old age.
In other words, the young Pete Townshend may have thought others of his generation would be miserable in old age. And now that he%u2019s 61, he might look back and think he himself was happier back then. But the opposite is likely to be true"
