“Make This World 20 Times Better” (Song Lyrics / Poem)
Twenty tears run down my cheek,
Looking for answers my heart can keep,
Hoping to believe,
That love can relive,
This pain from not knowing…
(spoken) Olivia, Ana, and Dylan…
But you won’t make sense from a tragedy,
You won’t find the answers: It’s a mystery,
But while I’m searching I’ve got to look,
At 20 little faces that were took,
From this world so early…
(spoken) Emilie, Catherine, and Jack…
Twenty young voices are talking to me,
From somewhere beyond the earth you see,
Saying make this world a better place,
We were just a handful of the human race,
Turn from the dark and remember our light…
(spoken) Madeleine, James, Noah, and Chase…
Twenty tears are not enough,
For all God’s children on this earth,
But there are 20 promises that I can keep,
If I can find the wisdom to make a leap,
To try and make this world 20 times better…
(spoken) for Josephine, Jesse, Charlotte, and Daniel…
I’m gonna put twenty more dollars in the plate,
To feed a hungry child or help stop hate,
I’m gonna think 20 times before I judge that man,
He’s different from me, but I can understand,
How to make this world 20 times better…
(spoken) for Avielle, Benjamin, and Allison…
I’m gonna offer 20 more prayers for peace on earth,
To every loving God of equal worth,
I’ll write 20 letters to the left and right, saying, “Time to work together.”
Children of the earth: Now is the time! We can’t wait forever.
Do it for them: Make this world 20 times better…
(spoken) for Jessica, Caroline, and Grace.
Now there’s 20 more angels in Heaven tonight,
And I’m gonna keep my eyes on their light,
I’ve 20 new stars to guide my life,
To try and love this world with all my might,
It really wouldn’t take forever:
To make this world twenty times better.
To make this world twenty times better.
