rayliffe24 is a woman from sams creek... in oz... a.k.a, Australia

I'm finding it somewhat disturbing how closely my stumbley collection mirrors my life...
art, art, art, art, art,
green things
art, art, art, art, peeved rant
art, art, art, chirpy interjection
art, art, art, art, art, art, art, art, art...

**** I've bid a final farewell to SU - I'm simply to busy in the studio and garden - sending best wishes for stumbling happiness to you all****

I've just dropped in briefly - to bid a final farewell to SU

I've been away for a bit - completing my Masters....

and when I've finally managed to return to SU - I don't recognise the place

(boy someone has been doing a lot of renovations whilst I've been away!)

those who were my 'friends' (ooops must refer to them as 'mutuals' now) know were to find me

cheers from a very dry sams creek

Well folks it's time for me to face the facts

I'm simply too busy in the studio to be in here much

so although I'm not signing off exactly - I'm not really going to be 'here'

    feel free to unsubscribe etc

I hope all your future stumbles are good ones!

    cheers ya'll

(yes - these are some of my arty pieces... and yes - this is a 'review' of sorts of my main blog address....)

selected scenes from Sydney this morning - September 23 2009

yesterday the dust storm rolled over my area

    overnight we had light rain

and outside this morning everything is covered in a film of red dust

extraordinary scenes - with sad ramifications -what is a red dawn today, was topsoil yesterday....

Here's the info from the flickr album....

    24h du livre à Romainmôtier, édition 2008.

Book sculpture featuring a "stained glass window" made out of discarded microfilms.
The sculpture hangs in the bell-tower closing the priory walls. Behind the book wall is the Romainmôtier Abbey Church.

I rarely do a one word review but all I've got for this idea is...

    'WOW!'

read more about it here and you'll be saying 'wow' too

I am INSANELY busy right now....

a flurry of activity in and out of the studio

(I've just realised that I have less than 3 months to finish all the work for my Masters)

    EEEEEEEEKKKKK!!!!

You'll only see me in here checking mail (etc.) over the next while (well that's the plan....)

******* have had all heck breaking loose here over the past week.....

in an ironic turn of events (given the pic up on top of my SU site) I've had a large bushfire press in close to my home here at the creek (my neighbours were advised to evacuate over the weekend) all is calm (fire is still alight and making a nuisance of itself) but I don't have internet at the creek - so I'm out and about (in the smoke) working on whatever computer I stumble over....

fire descends the south eastern face of gulaga mountain

As mentioned in the previous post - I've been offline for more than 2 weeks - and this has been what I've been watching for the majority of that time... I've been quite safe here, a couple of kms from the fire front but it has been a tense time for my darling friends over the hill (and up against the flames...)

Gulaga ('mother' as known by local Kooris - the indigenous and original inhabitants of our area) is an ancient extinct volcano - the sight of flames spewing down the sides of the mount was absolutely amazing!

it is however a timely (if out of season) reminder of just what it is like to live cheek by jowl to hundreds of kilometres of eucalypt forest in rural australia
