Forever curious and likes good explanations. A lifelong learner. Constantly seeking answers to life's many mysteries and happy to share all knowledge thus gleaned. On my favorite literary form: "Poetry to me is a vibration from the soul of a writer, the many oscillations of which will hopefully cause the "tuning fork" in the reader's soul to vibrate with some of the same intensity as the poet feels in her own." Siding with Chavez and Castro is as wrong as it gets. When will Obama be getting ballots from China or Russia, I wonder . . .

From the page: "A treasure trove of First World War photographs was discovered recently in France. Published here for the first time, they show British soldiers on their way to the Somme. But who took them? And who were these Tommies marching off to die?"

Forgotten

Sorrow is no longer filling
The empty space you left
The great void, the chasm,
Where soul mourned heart's death

It, feeling, once gone, flown
Out the door and down the street
Has returned this day, all days
And tears, once shed, have dried

Nerves, once rattled and shook
Idle and listless, with no power to move
Spark happily today, firing away
Down emotion's smooth highway

The me in me has returned to
A heart, once numbed, now warm
The shine, once gone where shine goes
Now, in my eyes, glistens again

And my soul isn't aimlessly
Searching in everything new
For some bit, some small fragment
Some tiny shard of you.

    Similes and Facts

rude awakening to the jarring facts
self-worth slips a notch or two
situation's plain, muddied and stained
subdued by the seige of truth

reevaluations ordered and served
to diner not ready for a bitter pill
pathways all cluttered, strewn with debris
lessons to wrest from habit's grip

tough to swallow, this bolt from the blue
that sashayed and swaggered its way
proud as a peacock to give you the news:
that you've been all wrong all along

Truth comes with simile, as light, as bright
as deer in the headlights late in the night
Truth's no appetizer, just an entreé of fact
with discomfort only, no smile on the side

in the wake of destruction, silence abounds
too soon for crying, with shock all around
quick as lightning, like ducks on a June bug
faces all ashen, acceptance appears at last

as eyes widen and relax with resignation
acceptance is like wanting a bee sting
nonetheless, it sets like concrete
cast in stone, forever truth prevails
