Patrick is a guy from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Painter, Designer, political clothing entrepreneur. Reviews are always welcome at my painting website and Progresswear, my company delivering politically charged messages. I'm also a designer and we've just launched a communications firm serving Progressive politicians and causes:Design for Progress. Whatever age it says I am today might be an outright lie. At the end of the day I'd be just as happy playing guitar.

Support Veterans for Peace with LIERAQ

On March 18th the nation marked the 5th anniversary of the War in Iraq. Six days later the death toll reached 4,000. And America yawned.

In a solemn and vocal observation of this trio of tragedies Progresswear has partnered with Veterans for Peace, a leading voice for veterans in America, in offering $5.00 off their powerful LIERAQ shirt until April 30. See the men's tee here and the women's tee and tank here. Veterans for Peace will be actively promoting the sale to their membership as well.

As with all good satire, the truth exposed in this aptly titled Onion article is anything but funny. I watch very little tv, but happened to catch a lot of it this holiday week while visiting my family. I'm appalled at the total lack of coverage on the conflict while I'm exposed instead to endless coverage of celebrities' every pathetic move.

From the article: "Is that still going on?" 46-year-old Dayton, OH resident Jim Svaboda asked about the war, which many were told would be ending as early as May 2003. "Absolutely nothing new has happened over there in months. Even the soldiers are tired of it."

We're going to be there for years to come, it's quite evident. I pray that the draft is reinstated, for I feel that it would be the only development that would make this sleeping ignorant nation finally stand up and care about what's happening.

Stephen Colbert guest writes Maureen Dowd's column a couple of days back. And not just Maureen's: "Bad things are happening in countries you shouldn't have to think about. It's all George Bush's fault, the vice president is Satan, and God is gay. There. Now I've written Frank Rich's column too."

This man is truly the greatest political wit of our time. Kudos to Maureen for giving him the platform.

Some of the world's most preeminent authorities on evolution were interviewed for a film purported to be about an examination of science and religion. Instead they found themselves featured in a film entitled "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed." Ben Stein, occasionally funny yet oddly nay saying conservative is the film's host.

Even the great Richard Dawkins was among the misled. Great Times piece.

AWOLBush.com showed up high in a Google search for the string "dan rather report true." As amateurish as the site looks, it's a fairly comprehensive catalogue of the Chickenhawk record of GW. They link to sites offering substantial rewards for anyone who witnessed Bush performing any National Guard Service between May 1972 and October 1973, in either Alabama or Texas. One offer is $50,000.

Despite being out there for years, no one has yet to claim the reward.

    Dan Rather: Scapegoat

Nation editor Katrina vanden Heuvel's take on the news that Dan Rather is suing CBS for millions. It's actually more of a discussion sparked by Rather's comment on Larry King that "You can't have freedom if you're going to have large corporations and government intruding on investigative reporting,"

The saddest part of this story is that the story Rather was telling on that infamous 60 minutes broadcast was essentially true. Put aside for a minute, if you're capable, the fact that the single document in question which ultimately led to Rather's departure may have been forged, but every word of it was TRUE.

As with so many other important stories of the last eight years, the truth gets deflected once a scapegoat's misstep is identified. It happend to MoveOn last week in the Patreus fracas, it happened to Dan Rather. One has to dig very deep to find the statements by the individuals in the original story to the effect that, yes, every word in that document, every word of the story itself, was true:
Bush was a drug taking silver spooned slacker ignoring his National Guard duties, protected by a silver umbrella of privilege.

The Yellow Rose of Texas Peace Bus

The Yellow Rose of Texas Peace Bus has been traveling the country for over 2 years spreading a message of peace and calling for the impeachment of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

The bus is the brainchild of Jim Goodnow, a dedicated 68 year old activist who drove a similar bus emblazoned with a call to impeach Richard Nixon in 1973. I had the pleasure of hosting Jim along with his busmate Miles for dinner the other night and spent 3 hours touring Philadelphia aboard it the following morning.

I'd presented Jim with two Lieraq shirts, the sentiments of which he was entirely in accord. He was on his way to Washington and told me that he couldn't wait to wear it through the halls of Congress.

We visited Independence Hall, The National Constitution Center and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Miles' ever present calls on the bullhorn to bring the troops home and impeach Bush and Cheney ringing through the streets. Many a driver and pedestrian met us with enthusiastic honks and thumbs up.
At a time when too many just want to shut their eyes to the travesties going on in Iraq, catching a glimpse of Jim's bus festooned with stickers and signage calling for peace guarantees at least a moment of reflection.
