Patrick is a guy from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Painter, Designer, political clothing entrepreneur. Reviews are always welcome at my painting website and Progresswear, my company delivering politically charged messages. I'm also a designer and we've just launched a communications firm serving Progressive politicians and causes:Design for Progress. Whatever age it says I am today might be an outright lie. At the end of the day I'd be just as happy playing guitar.

NEW KING GROUP PORTFOLIO ON FLICKR.

The redesign of my firm's site is long overdue so I thought I'd post a portfolio of new work on flickr. Much easier. Threw it on facebook as well. The channels for exposing ones work are changing in this business. StumbleUpon has been very good to Progresswear and TypographyShop. I'm anxious to see if it can expose the King Group's work to a wider audience as well.

We've just launched Typography Shop, our latest imprinted wearables venture. For years I've wanted to design shirts for designers. We'd had these in the hopper for awhile when I ran it by Jeffrey Zeldman. He loved them and we had them up in a week. On our first day we were fortunate to have Jeffrey linking to us on twitter and facebook as well as zeldman.com. Josh Spear followed suit as have dozens of other design bloggers in just a week. The design community seems to dig it, but we wanted to get it off Progresswear and away from the overtly political messages.

It's been an absolute pleasure corresponding with fellow designers around the globe. Seeing them opening their wallets to purchase something I've created that speaks to them is a better honor than getting a call hearing I've just been awarded the next identity project or website. They say we all work to be respected by our peers more than the public. This shirt is giving me that in a way that winning awards and showing up in annuals never could. Keep your eye on the site for new product.

Support Veterans for Peace with LIERAQ

On March 18th the nation marked the 5th anniversary of the War in Iraq. Six days later the death toll reached 4,000. And America yawned.

In a solemn and vocal observation of this trio of tragedies Progresswear has partnered with Veterans for Peace, a leading voice for veterans in America, in offering $5.00 off their powerful LIERAQ shirt until April 30. See the men's tee here and the women's tee and tank here. Veterans for Peace will be actively promoting the sale to their membership as well.

    ilovedesign Gallery

The Gallery at ilovedesign.com is a beautiful but difficult to navigate design portal created by the good folks over at Quark. Designers and firms can set up portfolios there, though there seems to be no directory or method of finding particular types of work.

Some great work is here. Some very amateurish work is here. What's odd is in this digital age it appears that they're only showing print.

I've uploaded a few King Group examples, we'll see if it brings any traffic.

Check out the videos with leading designers. David Carson is featured at the moment.

I'm in love with a Firefox add on. There has never been such a virtually beautiful interface for viewing images on a monitor. Period.

I've spent 12+ years of working day after day on the computer, staring at hundreds and thousands of images in my work as a creative be it relating to painting or my design business. It's often grueling work, your eyes begin to bleed. To create a series of 3 posters for a health club signage system I looked at nearly a million tiny thumbnails in the course of three weeks.

PicLens is hands down, my new savior. Install this little Firefox add on and your flickr, Google, Yahoo and other image searches will no longer be grueling. Instead, with a simple click of a play icon, that Google image search will no longer be page after page of tiny thumbnails from which you must navigate to the image's google search result one by one. Instead your screen goes black, you're led by the hand down a dark hallway of a slick museum, the walls beautiful backlit transparencies of the entire Google or Flickr or whatever your search result. You can click to enlarge and see the image full resolution without ever leaving PicLens.

Drag a simple slider bar at will to fly through thousands of images at once, at the speed you desire. Those familiar with video jog controls will love the interface.

I can't believe it got a thumbs down from the last reviewer. Image searching and viewing is absolute heaven with this
  • Iraq War No Longer Interesting Enough To Make List Of...

Rated Dec 29 2007 3 reviews humor, news, politics, iraq, antiwar theonion.com

As with all good satire, the truth exposed in this aptly titled Onion article is anything but funny. I watch very little tv, but happened to catch a lot of it this holiday week while visiting my family. I'm appalled at the total lack of coverage on the conflict while I'm exposed instead to endless coverage of celebrities' every pathetic move.

From the article: "Is that still going on?" 46-year-old Dayton, OH resident Jim Svaboda asked about the war, which many were told would be ending as early as May 2003. "Absolutely nothing new has happened over there in months. Even the soldiers are tired of it."

We're going to be there for years to come, it's quite evident. I pray that the draft is reinstated, for I feel that it would be the only development that would make this sleeping ignorant nation finally stand up and care about what's happening.

We've simplified the King Group website from its previous Flash version. The longer I'm in this business the more minimal I seem to be getting. Though there are plenty of busy and brassy visual statements to be found among the 20 samples of new work to be found there. We've also got more extensive downloadable PDFs covering advertising, design and web work.

Despite all the Progresswear activity of the last couple of years we've had to keep working to pay the bills and this is how we do it. In the end I'd rather be painting.
