My day job is as a Communications Director for a non-profit assoc. here in Pennsylvania that advocates for autism and intellectual disabilities services. My night job is as the "nightlife insider" for MODE, the Harrisburg City Paper. And believe it or not, I have actually Stumbled on some great stuff to assist me with both. Who knew?

    Great website and I love this idea. But I do get nervous about perpetuating the idea that once nonprofits and volunteers are connected, that's all that's needed. The current Administration seems to think that non-profits and human services (and the national park service) can be run with a heavy reliance on their dedicated volunteers and that's simply not the case. Volunteers are indispensable to any organization but they can't carry the burden that should be relieved by adequate funding at the state and federal level. People should be able to volunteer because they want to and believe in a group's mission - not because they fear the org will fall apart without them.
