Share This- Campaign For Liberty & The War on Drugs Is a War on You &&| by Michael...
May 3, 2:21pm (21 reviews) drugs, law, liberties, politics http://www.campaignforliberty.com/articl... "The drug war is based on a repugnant assertion: that you do not have ownership over your own body; that you don't have the right to decide what you'll do with your body, with your property and with your life. The position of the drug warriors is that you should be in jail if you decide to do something with your body that they don't approve of.
People will always do plenty of things that are bad for them, and there's no reason to put them in prison for it. Think about all the things that you do which are bad for your own health and well being -- should the government outlaw those too?
People eat too much fast food and they forget to floss every day. They watch too much TV and they don't count their calories. They stay up too late and they spend too much. And, guess what else? People swallow, snort, shoot and smoke drugs that are both legal and illegal -- and it's not going to stop. A free society just wouldn't force you, under the threat of punishment, to be "good" to yourself all the time. That was the job of your parents -- unless, of course, you want the feds to be your new "daddy."
Every day that the war on drugs continues is another day of injustice; another day of spending countless billions to lock people up that don't behave the way the bureaucrats want them to behave.
It's time to bring this multi-billion dollar attack on your liberty to an end"
Thanks to Dr. Duke for sending this my way.

Feb 22, 2:15pm (4 reviews) african-americans, sports, american-history, documentary http://www.pbs.org/unforgivableblackness... This is an amazing Ken Burns documentary about the life of Jack Johnson. Four hours long and I was enthralled for every moment of it. It's very well done and the subject matter is already so interesting to begin with.
I admire Jack Johnson. He was not a perfect man by any stretch of the imagination, but he was a die hard individualist. He was who he was with no apologies and remained true to himself to the very end. Never feeling compelled to alter his lifestyle to suit the racist social mores of the times in which he lived.

Feb 4, 4:10pm (4 reviews) humor, bizarre, video, birth-control http://www.hulu.com/watch/10234/saturday... I think this is one of the funniest things I've seen on SNL for ages... Annuale. Birth control that regulates your period to only once a year.
"Do not take Annuale if you plan to ever become pregnant as it may turn your baby into a firemonster. In the days around your period you may develop a leathery tail. Annuale may cause you to develop a second vagina. Notify authorities in your town when your period is imminent as they may want to incarcerate you pre-emptively like a wolfman."

Share This- Did David Bowie Cause the Credit Crunch? - The Guestlist
Jan 13, 3:41pm (4 reviews) economics, ecommerce, david-bowie http://new.uk.music.yahoo.com/blogs/gues... "Did Bowie cause the credit crunch? No. But inadvertently he set the paradigm."
LoL! This is kind of silly and far fetched. But I like any excuse to think or talk about David Bowie. Speaking of which, why did they use such a mediocre Bowie video to accompany this article? Not that I've got anything against the movie Labyrinth, it's one of my favorites and DB looks scrumptious in spandex, (wait, did I just say "scrumptious in spandex?") but the man's music catalog spans more than five decades... pick a better song.

Share This- Rep. Barney Frank: Obamas Choice Of Warren Is Very Disappointing
Dec 18, 2008 8:58pm (2 reviews) liberties, politics, obama, lgbt http://www.huffingtonpost.com/rep-barney... Rep. Barney Frank speaks out about Obama's choice of Rev. Rick Warren to give the invocation at his inauguration. I couldn't agree with him more:
"I am very disappointed by President-elect Barack Obama's decision to honor Reverend Rick Warren with a prominent role in his inauguration.
Religious leaders obviously have every right to speak out in opposition to anti-discrimination measures, even in the degrading terms that Rev. Warren has used with regard to same-sex marriage. But that does not confer upon them the right to a place of honor in the inauguration ceremony of a president whose stated commitment to LGBT rights won him the strong support of the great majority of those who support that cause.
It is irrelevant that Rev. Warren invited Senator Obama to address his congregation, since he extended an equal invitation to Senator McCain. Furthermore, the President-Elect has not simply invited Rev. Warren to give a speech as part of a series in which various views are presented. The selection of a member of the clergy to occupy this uniquely elevated position has always been considered a mark of respect and approval by those who are being inaugurated."
I do believe that Obama's choice in this matter is a real slap in the face to the LGBT community.
