Have you noticed lately that there are an increasing number of drug ads on television? Every ailment from erectile dysfunction, herpes and menstrual pain to hypertension and depression has it’s media representative. Take a look at the star power that is currently pitching prescription drugs for the pharmaceutical companies: Sally Fields, Rob Lowe, Dorothy Hamill and even ex-senator Bob Dole have their pet drug promotions. In 2005, alone, the pharmaceutical companies spent more than $4.23 billion in direct-to-consumer advertising for prescription drugs - a 400 percent increase from 1996.
