"Sonnet for Bric9"
Two, perhaps a third dimension, greys,
But blue and green and storied layers
In the colour scheme: the arts remain her players,
Deft integrity, the ribbon round the frame; displays
Of cultured beauty tempered by an age
And yet so very young! What may be the detail
Of a horse's nose or wingèd creatures sail
Through a maze of random obstacles: no rage,
No anger here, but quiet contemplation of a meaning
Silvered or perhaps a gilded lily lovingly restored
To former glory or at least to what the lion roared
When kindness in a passing pilgrim, gleaning
Thistles and an odd disturbing thorn, removed
And added balm to sooth and introductions to the Lamb!
There is a quiet knowledge in the order brought from chaos. The kindest meaning of the Greeks in fashioning their cosmology beginning with Chaos and melding to Eros before the Earth and Sky were formed pays homage to the truth that progress and ever evolving beauty in this universe are inevitable. I see something of this in bric9's site. I need say little else beside the firm suggestion that one cannot but profit from seeing what this kind lady has produced within so short a space; integrity of form, presentation, content, and all that speaks of art not so much for the sake of art, itself, but in praise of He Who created it all in the first place! Oddly, were all souls as this one, what need might we have of religion or philosophy save that no matter how kind the gift, the Donor must be thanked!
