Square Enix recently delivered a Cease and Desist letter to a fan project that spanned five years and was nearing completion. After much speculation, the letter has been proven real, and fans of the Chrono series, as well as followers of the just-deceased Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes are left fuming, once more, after witnessing the cancellation of the second major fan project based on this franchise (the first being Chrono Trigger Resurrection, forced to halt development in 2004). Being a rom hack among so many (several of which are based on Square's past work), what message does Square-Enix give to fans of the Chrono series, if no third entry has been announced? And why wait until the project has neared completion (98%) to issue such a letter?
