To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest.

    ~ Pema Chodron ~

I've only just heard the news about the changes to SU.

It left me with a sinking heart. Sadness. Loss.

All those hours of loving caring and sharing.

All those wonderful, mysterious long distance friendships across the cyberspace.

All that discovery, and fun, and thought, and learning, and insight.

    Thank you all.

I've been here since SU's early days, before we had topics, tags, & other bells & whistles

I would love to stay in touch with so many of you.

I hope we find a diaspora site for SU refugees to reconnect.

Please let me know if we do. I'm a bit out of the loop now, but will be checking my message box.

But change is a law of life, and in Buddhism, a fundamental fact to face.

There is a lot here I'd like to save. Maybe I can. But how? Any ideas?

Meanwhile, you can find me at Twitter as @mmechomski part goddess, part mountain goat.

    You'll recognise the avi.

I'd like to reconnect with SU buddhists, writers, artists, activists, word lovers, and others.

I won't necessary "Follow" everyone tho.

I'm also at Facebook as oliviabelladonna same avi, and will happily friend/follow there.

Either way, I'm slow to respond, so please be patient : health issues; life issues ; time issues.

Thank you, thank you, thank you all. May the future be filled with wonder and love.

    Happy trails.

What a beautiful man. What beautiful pages.

I miss the art and I miss the man.

I wish I'd been a better friend, and hadn't trusted time.

Tell someone you love that you care. Right now.

this painting is by this stumbler, Tim.
I think it's very beautiful. As are his pages. Much wonderful
art, poetry, and buddhist and taoist thought here. A real pleasure to visit.
The painting shows 'Harley Park overlook Missouri River Boonville Missouri 11 Nov. 06'.
Below is another image from his pages. The third image is a pastel he did earlier
this year, and shows Escalante Petrified Forest State Park.

Australia : "The two Perth accountants who costed the Coalition's 2010 election policies breached professional standards and will be fined, a disciplinary tribunal has ruled." More at the page. Why has this story been hidden by the mainstream media in Oz?

    "Poetry and Power"

    by John F. Kennedy

posthumously published February 1964, The Atlantic

'When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the areas of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses, for art establishes the basic human truths which must serve as the touchstones of our judgement. The artists, however faithful to his personal vision of reality, becomes the last champion of the individual mind and sensibility against an intrusive society and an officious state. The great artist is thus a solitary figure.'

    The Space of Silence

Silence is another kind of space.

When everything is quiet and suddenly there is a noise,

we ordinarily say the silence was shattered.

But it's more accurate to say

that we forget the silence and listen only to the sound.

    ~

The sun shines not on us but in us.

The rivers flow not past, but through us, thrilling, tingling,

vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our bodies,

    making them glide and sing.

    ~ John Muir ~

    The Buddha was a revolutionary,

a radical advocate for personal and social transformation.

He rejected the religious forms of his time

and renounced all forms of greed, hatred, and delusion.

He dedicated his life to going "against the stream,"

to the subversive path of an outlaw transient.

He wasn't afraid to speak out against the ignorance

in this world's political, social, and religious structures,

but he did so from a place of love and kindness,

from an enlightened compassion that extended to all living beings.

    The Buddha's teachings are not a philosophy or a religion;

they are a call to action, an invitation to revolution.

    Noah Levine

    The Heart of the Revolution

    Life is difficult.

This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths.

It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth,

    we transcend it.

Once we truly know that life is difficult -

once we truly understand and accept it -

then life is no longer difficult.

    Because once it is accepted,

the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.

about everything from his background and beliefs,

to the effect of his death on America and world politics.
